Lime washing with Color Atelier
One of the BEST design decisions we made on our last home was to lime wash the walls in the kitchen and living room. Lime wash paint is made from crushed limestone and water and when painted in the right technique creates a depth and texture to walls which mimics the look of an old plaster wall. I’m not lying when I say it immediately* created a warmth and comfort in the rooms that just wasn’t present before with our plain white walls. I was really intimidated by the process at first and spent a while on google and YouTube researching and watching videos on “how to lime wash walls”. Once I realized how doable it was, I started shopping around for different lime wash paints. Anyone can do this guys! There are a lot of good resources online if you search “how to lime wash walls”. There are quite a few companies out there but when I stumbled upon Color Atelier I knew this was the right choice for us. They have such a beautiful selection of lime wash paint colors and plasters at an affordable price and exquisite customer service. I had quite a few questions regarding the paints and they quickly and kindly answered all my annoying questions… ;) We just closed on a house and I plan on exclusively using Color Atelier in all the rooms. I’m itching to try their plaster as well!
I filmed the limewashing process on my instagram (@silverlinedesign__) which I’ll link at the end of this blog for you. It addresses some of the most ask questions like what primer to use, how to stroke the lime wash paint on the walls to achieve that cloud like look, and what colors I used/ how to layer to create more depth. As always, please reach out via email or IG messages if you have additional questions!
