It’s been said, “Your home is your canvas” and I prefer mine painted in stripes. I fell in love with the curved shape of this 1980s couch when I bought it off fb marketplace back in 2021 and knew I would eventually get it reupholstered. If you’ve ever reupholstered anything then you know it’s an investment and something you don’t want to redo in a year or two.. It’s the reason I held off reupholstering for the past 3 years. I’m super particular about fabric and patterns in our living room and had envisioned doing this couch in stripes.

I wanted the stripes to be thick and I had the hardest time finding a striped pattern that spoke to me until I found Folio Fabrics. I was scrolling on IG when I came across their page and started looking through their website and saw the range of selections they had, especially when it came to stripes. I knew right then this was the company I was going to use to reupholster the couch. I quickly ordered 20 samples and began dreaming up our living room space. Once they came in (super quick turn around time) I was shocked at how hard it was to choose a fabric for our couch. I loved SO many of the samples I ordered and began questioning if I should go simple with a classic dark brown or light green color, or stick with my gut and go bold with the thick stripes. You can order free samples and I definitely took advantage of that! The next hurdle was finding a trustworthy upholstery company. After digging on Google, asking friends and family, and searching on fb marketplace groups I ended up going with Bowen’s upholstery in Jacksonville, FL. It’s absolutely crucial you find someone with good reviews- I loved my reupholstery people! Word of mouth seems to be a good resource to finding a great upholstery person. There was a small area I wasn’t happy with and they redid it without any questions asked.

And well, the rest is history! I have zero regrets going with a bold stripe and wish I would’ve done it sooner! It’s no doubt the star of the room. This fabric transformed the living room and brings in such a fun and interesting element. It’s the perfect amount of pizazz without overwhelming the minimalistic vibes I already have going on.
